"The Mechanic" An action packed thrill ride that's very enjoyable!

By: Erik Pullum
4.5 out of 5 Stars

Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is a problem solver. Something is broke, he fixes it. A mechanic, but for humans. When he "fixes" you, you don't get back up. When his longtime friend Harry Mckenna (Donald Sutherland) is killed Bishop, with some reservations, takes in Mckenna's son. Steve, played by Ben Foster, is a loser. Kind of whiny feel sorry for me kid who most of the movie you might want to just punch in the face. He works out though and the two eventually seek to get to the bottom of Harry's death.

I consider this a total package guy movie. There are laughs, fights, guns, a few women, and the only thing you won't find is boredom. Warning for parents; there are a few scenes of nudity and much cussing. As usual these add nothing to the story, but as all movies seem to do this today it is to be expected. The biggest drawback? It's length. The inventive ways that the mechanics find to execute their missions leave you wondering what else they could have done.

Statham brings his typical B.A. charisma to the role. His background in real life makes him very believable in roles like this. Many actors attempt to bring a vulnerable emotion to roles such as this, and often it just gets in the way of your perception of the character. Men want their heroes to be like Bishop: Strong, Tough, Confident, and Decisive. There isn't room for a "feminine" side to these guys. Ben Foster plays the cocky, "poor me" character well, and as he learns the trade, you start to like him a bit. It's nice also that they are at least a bit realistic in that all their plans do not go off perfect, and they do have to improvise.

Sutherland is wonderful in his role as an ageing assassin who maintains your respect. The writing of his character and Donald's portrayal is genius. Also of note are the villains/hits that have been well written in. It's amazing how with the little time they spend on each, you are really drawn in to wanting them to get what they deserve.

For all the guys out there, and any women that happen to like violence and/or Statham, check this movie out. It's great if you just want to sit back and have some fun. The Mechanic is definitely not going to make you think long and hard about the problems in the world today, and you know what? That's not a bad thing every once in awhile...

The music it was awesome the music they had for this
movie it just all fits so well seeing how almost all of
the music was song by Russell Brand.

The message that I got from this film was never give up and enjoy life and your loved ones and help friends get off drug and don't be enablers because enabling doesn't help anybody and don't run into the Jeffrey.
I just want to say If you haven't seen this movie you should and if your a fan of Russell Brand and Jonah hill like I am and you still haven't seen this film yet you are missing out it pulled off the same outrageous humor from Superbad when it first came out and if you thought that was funny you will fall over and laugh your face off I'm gonna say Apatow did it again and thanks for a gut buster movie.

                                               Sydney Fife - Jason Segel

Peter Klaven(Paul Rudd)-is a guy that pretty much grew up not having any real guy friends he was more of the boyfriend guy he just had girlfriends and just really never made a true best friend and he starts to realize that his family and girlfriend are talking about if we get married he wouldn't have a best man so he goes on bro dates which is a funny journey then at an open house he meets Sydney Fife and become friends and Sydney tries to show Peter what a man should do and how to have fun with his life instead of being so up tight.

Zoey Rice(Rashida Jones)-is Peter's girlfriend, she owns her own business with her two friends. She just wants Peter to be happy and have more friends. She always tells her friends her and Peter's secret like their first time and other sex stories.

Sydney Fife(Jason Segel)-is just the ultimate best friend the dude is just cool I would hangout with this dude. He becomes Peters friend and opens peter up and let loose and just live life and don't take any crap and stand up for himself.

Denise(Jaime Pressly)-she is business partners with Zoey and Hailey and she is married to Barry. Her and him always argue and have loud make up sex you never see it happen but you will hear about it.

Barry(Jon Farreau)-is married to Denise and the funny thing about him is that he always claims he hasn't seen or met Peter in his life super funny. (big fan of Jon Farreau)

Hailey(Sarah Burns)-is business partners with Zoey and Denise. She always pictures Denise and barry having sex. Hailey tries to go out with Sydney but she is his nightmare but a delight. (Inside joke if you haven't seen the movie)

Robbie Klaven(Andy Samberg)-is Peters gay brother and Peter comes to him for help to set him up on some bro dates to try and find him a friend so he might be his best man one day.

Joyce Klaven(Jane Curtin)-Peter and Robbie's mother and she tries to set Peter up with some of her friends sons and the one she sets him up with just so happens to be gay. She is also Peter's best friend from what Zoey says to her girlfriends.

Oswald Klaven(J.K. Simmons)-Peter and Robbie's father and is an honorary gay member now and he has two friends Hank Mardukas for 20 years and Robbie. (J.K. Simmons is amazing)

Some of the actors and actresses are my favs like Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Jon Farreau, Andy Samberg, J.K. Simmons, and Jaime Pressly I've seen most of their stuff.

The Lines
  1. It's true. Dad loves the gays.
  2. What the shit is he looking at?
  3. I gotta get some fucking friends.
  4. Totally, and it smells like fart.
  5. Man, no laj between the vag?
  6. Slap the bass big time.
  7. Suck it Gill!
  8. There were tons of guys that were licking each other's basses.
  9. this is my nightmare!
  10. Fuck you, Lou Ferrigno!

The music in this movie was mostly Rush which is not a problem I am now a Rush fan their music is the best and Jason Segel and Paul Rudd when they jam out to it made it super awesome the best parts too.

The Plot

It hooked me into the movie pretty fast even though it didn't take much for me since I'm fans of Paul Rudd and Jason Segel but It introduces the characters pretty steadily not to slow or not so fast just perfect.  The people that played the parts in the movie was perfect they looked believable like they might be people out in the world just like this.  If you haven't seen this movie I totally recommend this film it could change your life.
